Hear you DSOP about KK. The first time I saw him live I was [img]eek.gif[/img] but he is playing better and better. I especially like his expressions both on his kit and face [img]graemlins/grrr.gif[/img] LOL.

But for all drummers we discuss here, it is just a matter of personal taste [img]graemlins/smarty.gif[/img] [img]wink.gif[/img]

KC is a freakin' freight train! He's a great guy, very down to earth. I asked him before a clinic here in SC to give me a quick 'drum lesson in one sentence'. He said: "I don't go for the doubles bullshit, I'm all about the singles!" [img]smile.gif[/img] He's a lot like DC in that regard.

Here's a quick story:
I played in a jazz combo directed by Bert Ligon here at the University of South Carolina. He was recounting a gig he did at a club in Texas when he had his Condor group (with KC and Matt Bissonette). It was an avg size club - a hundred people or so. After the first set, Bert went to the back of the room and asked his wife how the sound was. She replied that everything was fine, but the kick drum was too damn loud.

Kirk's kick drum wasn't mic'd. [img]tongue.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/beer.gif[/img]

The big guy can definitely draw some sound...but he's got the lower end of the dynamic covered as well. I'm definitely a fan!

Hey DSOP...

You probably caught Kurt at La Ve Lee like I did. Quite frankly, I was blown away. I came to see Scott Henderson play and was wondering, "who's this guy playing drums"?? Kurt who??

The dude just NAILED the gig. Was totally at par with Henderson and company.

And then...... once I heard/saw Kurt hit the keys and sing, that's when I threw my hands up in the air. It's few people that can do so many things very very well. And Kurt definetly deserves kudos on his very accomplished abilities.

Even though he's not my cup of tea when it comes to playing styles, I definetly give him props to chew up and spit out what the "big boys" can dish out to him.
